CLIMATE CHANGE? OR JUST A STRETCH OF BAD WEATHER?
I think what frustrates me about the pro-warming argument is that despite their insistence on a scientific "proof," they thenproceed to completely ignore the very principles of scientific inquiry, namely that the most central principle of science is the continual exploration of the issue. Even Newton's Laws of Gravitation, one of the most central pieces of modern physics, have had to be revisited once Einstein and his scientific descendants came along. My point is that science is never settled, because we can always dig a little deeper, refine our model a little more, and get closer to real, mathematical "truth." The current climatological models are no better for predicting climate than using a common magnifying glass would be for determining the structure of DNA. We simply do not have enough data, our model is not good enough, and we do not yet have a good enough understanding. To say that the science is "settled" is absolute drivel and reveals, as Mr. Moran states, a political, anti-capitalist goal, rather than a scientific one.

It is painfully obvious that, yet again, we have politicians who completely misunderstand the various health guidelines used. BMI is only ONE tool used to determine overall health; there are a number of other tools. I am 5'7" tall, weigh about 200lbs and if anyone calls me obese they are going to get punched in the mouth. Anyone who works out to any significxant degree isn't going to come close to meeting their supposed "ideal" BMI. Does that mean that Football players are now "morbidly obese?" That will probably be news to some of them. This is simply another typical power-grab by morons politicians and their bureaucratic minions "foro our own good."

I have noticed that support or opposition to the GWOT is based primarily on ideology and subsequent Party affiliation. By and large, conservatives and Republicans (not necessarily the same thing) are pro-GWOT, while Democrats and Leftists/liberals are anti-. The vocal opposition bases their disdain primarily around President Bush. I often wonder what the "anti-war" opposition would look like, or if it would exist at all, if Sen. Kerry was the 43rd President of the United States, and had done the same thing as the current President.

Let it never be said that the Lefties have a monopoly on wierdness; we righties can get pretty wacky too. I suppose it's a case that our wierdness is rarely as destructive as theirs and not even remotely as widespread.

You are right about the appaling lack of embedded reporters. However, according to Michael Yon, and I believe his information is fairly credible, the military itself has made it rather difficult to embed. Part of it may be simple practicalities: Iraq is a dangerous palce and reporters...well, they tend to get in the way of soldiers' missions. However, a large part may be egotistical Army bureaucratic Public Relations officers who feel good making it difficult for reporters to embed. This was the gist of Michael Yon's complaint and, while I cannot verify it for myself, being too low on the totem pole, it is entirely possible in keeping with the nature of REMF.
